Standard sessions are 60 minutes long. This allows us plenty of time to focus on your needs and end with a brief wrap-up and scheduling.
If you’d prefer a shorter or longer session, we can discuss options at your first appointment to find what feels right for you.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, any goals you might have, and any past experiences with mental health support.
If you’re not sure where to start—that’s okay. I’ll help guide the conversation, and you’re always welcome to share only what you feel comfortable with.
This session is an opportunity to begin building a personalized approach that fits your needs and sets the foundation for our work together.
The number of sessions required varies depending on individual circumstances and goals. Some clients see improvement in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We will regularly review your progress to ensure your needs are being met.
Confidentiality is a vital part of therapy, and I take it very seriously. What you share in our sessions stays private.
That said, there are a few exceptions where I’m legally required to break confidentiality. If any of these situations come up, I will always do my best to discuss it with you first and offer support through the process.
If you are in crisis or need immediate support outside of our scheduled sessions, please contact emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
There are also free, 24/7 crisis helplines available for immediate support:
These services are available any time you need to talk.
Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. However, if you are Indigenous and have a Status Card, the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program does cover therapy services. As a registered NIHB provider, I can submit claims directly on your behalf.
Many Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and extended health benefits also cover psychotherapy. I am a registered provider with several insurance plans and may be able to direct bill your insurer—please reach out to confirm if direct billing is possible for your specific plan.
If I cannot direct bill, I will provide you with detailed receipts that you can submit for reimbursement.
IMPORTANT:
If you intend to submit your receipts for reimbursement, you are strongly encouraged to contact your benefits provider before your first session to confirm:
This helps avoid any unexpected issues or delays in reimbursement.
Psychotherapy is considered a medical expense in Ontario. You may access your receipts through the portal to provide to your accountant for tax preparation.
My standard rate for individual psychotherapy is $190 per 50-minute session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ranging from $120 and up, depending on financial need and availability. At this time, my waitlist for low- or no-fee sessions is full.

Yes, in-person therapy is available in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. To maintain privacy and safety, the exact location and directions are shared after your first appointment is confirmed. Typically, our first session is held virtually to ensure we’re a good fit before moving forward with in-person sessions. My office offers a calm, confidential space designed to support your comfort and wellbeing.
It’s completely normal to wonder if a therapist is the right fit. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of effective therapy. To help with that, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk about what you’re looking for, what brings you to therapy, and whether my approach feels like a good match for your needs.
Therapy is a personal experience, and it’s important to find someone you genuinely connect with. Not every therapist is the right fit for every person—and that’s completely okay. While I strive to support a wide range of clients, I don’t specialize in all areas. For example, I don’t work with couples or children under 12, as I don’t currently stay up to date on the most effective treatments for those populations. If it feels like we’re not the right match, I’m happy to offer referrals to other great therapists who may better align with what you're looking for. I always encourage people to do a few consultations—finding the right therapeutic connection can make all the difference.
